Total Car Diagnostics | TOAD Software - Complaints Board & Reviews...
Total Car Diagnostics basically diagnoses car problems via OBD2 port. And also performs ECU chiptuning for performance enhancement.
TOAD has about 90% positive reviews online. The other 10% reviews are basically inevitable complaints posted on various complaint board sites like rippoffreport and complaintsboard.
Basic psychology is: 1 unhappy customer posts to 10 sites. 1 happy customer posts to 1 site.
And unhappy customer is 100x more likely to post their experience then a happy customer who is just happy using the product.
Meaning complaints, unhappy, scam reviews are the norm in today's world. And unfortunately potential prospects BUY these complaints without understanding this basic psychology.
So it seems that product has bad reviews, but in background, it actually does 100x more positive change... then the view portrayed by negative reviews.
Last time I checked, no product in the world had all positive reviews.
Purpose of this page is to show you the good, bad and ugly reviews of Total Car Diagnostics, TOAD OBD. I've been with them for 5 years. So I know the ins and out's of their company.
For starters, Total Car Diagnostics answers around 100 support emails per day. So right off the bat, they're here to stay.
They serve hundreds of thousands of existing customers, and hundreds of new each day.
They serve hundreds of thousands of existing customers, and hundreds of new each day.
Some POSITIVE reviews I found online...
Very pleased with TOAD and recommended to friends...
"I was able to locate the bad oxygen sensors even with the OBD glitch and fix the car via TOAD OBD. Now as far as the car being freaky I cannot fix it. It is a 2008 Ford Fusion. It has had two rebuilt transmissions and about 5 changes of tie rod ends but yet the brakes lasted 90k miles, go figure. So the double report does not surprise me. I'll keep on the lookout for the update. Thanks for the great product. I have already showed the scanner and software to a couple of friends and they have been thinking about purchasing one. Less than $100 for your tool or $200 for a service station to tell you the same thing. To anyone with any bit of electrical and mechanical know how, it is a no brainer."
Used TotalCarDiagnostics TOAD software successfully...
"Used TotalDiagnostics TOAD on three different cars (audi, mercedes, honda), worked great every time. Cleared a code that never came back. Can't beat the price. Maybe there are features that could be added but none of the important stuff is missing. In overall don't know what other sissies are complaining about, I used many tools before. TOAD by far trumps even $5000 scanners!"
"Overview
After looking into various OBDII adapters and apps to connect and diagnose my cars with an iPad or android phone I realized I was going to nickel and dime myself beyond the cost of whatever made my lights come on in the first place. TOAD seemed to be the simplest cabled (non wifi/ non bluetooth) solution so I ordered it and I'm glad I did.
Pros- easy to install with extensive support in step-by-step detail- simple, yet amazing detailed interface outputting more data then any Android app I've used before.- powered by the car (no batteries needed)- detected the codes fine- reset the codes easily
Cons- the cord was shorter than I'd have like but worked fine. Can get extension cord on eBay for $2.
In the end, I searched the codes online and came up with a sensor name and location. Sure enough, the problem was simple; a broken wire at the connection and I was able to repair it on my own in less than ten minutes for no cost other than this unit.
Had I bought the various apps, etc I had originally planned on, I'd have spent WAY more than I needed to to fix the problem. If you need a good inexpensive diagnosis and reset tool, this is it. I hope this information helps you with your decision. TOAD is worth every cent!"
TOAD-Scan software is very practical to say the least:
I bought TOAD OBD scanner 2 weeks ago, opted for EMS Express shipping and received it 5 days later from Australia.
With my vehicle registration a couple of days away from expiring and having smog issues where my car will not pass due to all the systems not being ready, I plugged in TOAD ELM327 usb cable into car and my laptop upon receiving it.
TOAD instantly told me what car was not ready, and what the "check engine light" fault code was. You can find the code definition on Total Car Diagnostics support page.
I got every system to be ready for smog except 2 (Catalyst Monitor and Evaporative Monitor). Problem is, the smog shop told me to ride the car for 120 miles and bring it back for smog.
What they did not tell me was that every car maker has their specific drive cycle which triggers these tests for the computer to get the monitors ready for smog inspection.
Doing a little research I found that my Ford Falcon needed a specific drive cycle to get the catalyst and evap ready, the catalyst was difficult to do on the highway as I had to run the car from 25-45 miles per hour during a 10 minute period and no steep hills or sharp turns.
This means I needed to run 2 minutes at 25 mph, then 2 minutes at 30 mph then 2 minutes at 35 mph, etc. I took this up to the hills and drove straight.
After doing this, I pulled over, turned the car off and turned it back to the on position with the scanner plugged in, I ran the tests and now CAT was ready as well, just needed EVAP to be ready.
Well I decided to do a cold soak bypass which means I let the car sit overnight for 8 hours for it to completely cool down since EVAP can only run tests the first 30 minutes of the engine being on.
I tried unsuccessfully to get the EVAP ready, upon more research I found that I could have 1 monitor not ready so I took it in for smog and passed!
If you have a 1996 and up model of car, make SURE you check out obdiiDOTcom for your car's drive cycle or else driving your car a lot of miles will not trigger some tests it needs in order to ready your monitors.
Long story short, TOAD-Scan software is very practical to say the least. It saves frustration and money.
Some NEGATIVE reviews I found online...
Whether it is or isn't doesn't matter. It's up to the buyer to make an informed decision with the information that's provided. Lot of impulse purchases result in disappointment taken towards seller.
Total Car Diagnostics has already included test cirteria whether car will be compatible or not. Seems many people are skipping right through the details. Only to later blame TOAD for being a scam.
For example, this vehicle compatibility link outlines if car is supported or not. One really can't go wrong there.
I'll keep this updated should my opinion about TotalCarDiagnostics change...
Other TOAD OBD TotalCarDiagnostics Reviews/Scam reports I found...
I buy used cars at auctions as a hobby. Sometimes the fix is major when the Check Engine Light is illuminated. Other times its an easy fix. The auction site won't allow me to use OBD Toad scanner there. But if car engine "sounds" ok, I'll take my chance by taking a test drive by myself. I'll pull out Totalcardiagnostics TOAD to see if vehicle is ok to take home, or leave it at auction site. This was I can also tell the next bidder what's "possibly" wrong with the car. In other words, TOAD is a life saver!
ReplyDeleteIt was a very good post indeed. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it in my lunch time. Will surely come and visit this blog more often. Thanks for sharing. a1 spinnakur plug spinner
DeleteSimple TOAD review- having these codes can save you a lot of grief and money and it is not costly and it is easy to use. The code I needed was on TotalCarDiagnosticsDOTcom website, but there are tons of places on the WEB to look the codes up, even for your car model, and get all sorts of practical advice.
ReplyDeleteAlso, you can find where to hook it up on you car on the web. Do this first, as if you do not know where to find it on your car exactly you can waste time and contortions. I found out my code was really minor, and it is a big relief knowing I do not have to rush the car in for a repair. Also, if you find it is major, you know you need to get your car in fast. Plus, it will arm you with knowledge and help you not get ripped off!
I have a good honest mechanic now, but when I was younger I did not and this could have saved me a lot of time and money! Directions on install are also easy to follow.
Generally TOAD is a well designed OBD diagnostic kit and after buying it, you do not have to waste money on the more expensive ones around.....
TOAD provides a good quick check, giving just the most basic codes. Very helpful to not have to go to a repair shop to get an idea why the 'Check Engine' light comes on. Does a good job of clearing the car's codes, turning off the 'Check Engine' light (until it comes back on again, if the car problem is still present). A great value from Total Car Diagnostics, every driver should own the Total OBD & ECU Auto Diagnostics scanner.
ReplyDeleteI have read a lot of the reviews online before I decided to get involved with TotalCarDiagnostics. Obviously check for scams, experiences, reviews, rippoffs and anything else I could find. I do have the need for it, since the MIL (check engine light), has been coming on in my car lately, and going to Autozone twice with no code error, is quite frustrating.
ReplyDeleteSo I end up buying a new gas cap just to slowly troubleshoot/cross eliminate possible issues. The new gas cap was worth it, whether the MIL light is about it or not. But since I bought the gas cap and this gadget at the same time, I was able to plug this one in (thanks for all the reviews, I was able to get pass the link error issue, my car's engine has to be turned on to scan properly, or else, it will keep showing link error).
And VOILA! I got a DTC error right away. WOW! What else can I say??? Now at least, I have a better clue how to fix/find the possible solutions to it. And erasing the code is super easy! For this price, you can't go wrong! I'd recommend this to all my friends/families in a heartbeat.
I was also able to scan without starting the car. Just turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and TOAD works like a charm. I must be doing it hastily the first time that I was getting link error, and decided to just start the car and it worked both ways. But it's best not to start the car, IMO.
Source: my own experience and usage using TotalCarDiagnostics.com products sine 2012.
In overall TotalCarDiagnostics has excellent diagnostic software and customer service. Besides that, I got this up and running TOAD (Total OBD & ECU Auto Diagnostics). I've had a few hand-held devices and Wow!! I wouldn't trade this in for any of my old sets. It only took about 2 minutes to get this hooked up to the port of my 2002 Buick LeSabre and I am by no means a computer whiz being middle-aged and probably took longer than I needed to in getting it set-up. Thanks to great support this is the best OBD diagnostic software and scantool I've ever used to date.
ReplyDeleteI was a tech on BMW, Rover, Audi, for several years. I have been looking for a product this simple for years, but it finally came to me. I was skeptical at the results due to the price of the software. When I downloaded and installed the software, I was shocked to be able to read my DTC's and then be able to monitor for sensors in real time simultaneously. Let alone get tons more data then any scan tool I've used in my 10 year mechanic career. I have also used it on several different vehicle makes, and get some surprising capabilities only found in ultra high-end manufacturer OBD readers. You can't believe how pleased I am. I may buy another just to have for a different laptop in case one laptop goes down.
ReplyDeleteThey shipped TOAD LITE, instead of PRO. So I had to wait another 7 days for whole drama to resolve itself. Otherwise, actual product is top notch.
My vehicle has been having a engine light on for a while. I had it checked at an autoparts store. I purchased this product to conveniently check fault codes. The scanner reads code fast. The fault codes were same as what I got from the autoparts store. Details car scan gives birds eye view of health condition of car. The ELM327 interface is solid. Works on Windows 10. I recommend it as overall safe all-rounded car diagnostic scanner.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite OBD2 applications. The only thing that bugs me about it is it's not available on Android; only Windows. When a clutch pack in my transmission blew, i used TOAD to keep clearing out the "limp mode" code. Had to drive 72 miles home. It got me there. Well worth the $97. The tow would've been hundreds...
ReplyDeleteSuperb unit, very simple to use, shows multiple codes and detail, pending/intermittent codes, etc. Codes can be cleared without worries. Their included ELM327 Cable is long enough without being too long and getting in the way. It replaces similar obd scanner and obd2 software that I bought 5-10 years ago, at over 3 times the cost of total car diagnostics. More than worth the price, especially when you can use something like this to get past an emissions inspection, which is exactly what I was able to do with my old one.
ReplyDeleteGood scan tool that is affordable and straight forward to utilize, but it will NOT erase/reset OBD2 codes on a 2005 Honda Civic LX 1.8L. Error code of "ECU not supported!" Is displayed when the scanner detects a PO301 misfire code and you attempt to erase and reset the code. It will also not read the VIN number in a 2005 Honda Civic LX 1.8. It outputs the other fault codes ok, but VIN and ERASE are not functional in this case.
ReplyDeleteI bought it to validate and reset dtc codes relating to a misfire situation so I could diagnose and replace a faulty ignition coil - a common problem with Hondas - so I could get the car SMOG tested.
Cannot do a reset or VIN read this with this particular tool. You can only scan and read the OBDii codes, therefore the totalcardiagnostics toad tool is of very limited value to me as I still have to bring the car into a shop to get the codes cleared before I can get the car smog tested.
The intention was to be able to repair a known problem so I can get a smog test. Dealers and auto repair shops charge you a high fee just to replace ignition coils, which you can basically do yourself with a 11mm socket wrench and a slotted screwdriver in less than 7 minutes. Based upon the other reviews, I would say that this toad obd2 software scanner probably works in other cars. It just does not work fully with mine. It arrived on time and in good condition in a bubble wrap envelope.
This thing is fantastc. Inlcuded elm327 bluetooth feels sturdy. Total car diagnostics's toad-scan software has a lot of features (most I wont use, but good to have). It cleared my DTC's, can read live data like RPM's, MAF readings, coolant temp, etc. Like others say online, and I'll say it also, the support is more then one could ask for. All answers are online, if asked, also they provide step-by-step instructions. BUT, if you have a little knowledge of what you are doing (you should if you buy this) you should have no problem using it. Easy software with advanced possibilities. For the price, it has exceeded my expectations.
ReplyDeleteHeads up for rest of users: If you are choosing between this one or manufacturer reader like ANCEL AD310 (as found on Amazon)... they are the EXACT same thing with OBD2 functions. Except the OEM scantools can read many of components that tools like "Total obd & ecu auto diagnostics" can't. However the tradeoff is, former is isolated to reading codes in plain view and very armature visuals.
ReplyDeleteHence frankly obd software makes it lot easier to intuitively pinpoint the cause of problem. I personally would choose the ANCEL... although missed many times when total car diagnostics tool would've pinpointed point-blank the cause. While 10 min later still trying to figure out the detailed component failure with ANCEL AD310.
Also, neither of these mentioned scanners/readers diagnose successfully the codes with my 2002 Volvo C70. Proving that all OBD2/EOBD scantools are fundamentally the same, despite how many embellishments are added to them. This is what noobies don't get.
Finally, there's really no "Best" scantool. IF you own multiple, it's because they're all lacking something.
I've been a professional in the automotive business for almost 25 years and have ASE L1 advanced diagnostic specialist certification.
ReplyDeleteI can say that this is the best bang for the buck OBD2 friendly tool I have ever seen. Naturally it won't do a lot of things that the more expensive equipment I use ($15k+) can do, but for quick checks and watching limited lists of live data it's accurate and validly accepted under professional standards.
We use the 'Car OBD Scanner' app for Android along side the Windows TOAD-Scan software, and they work together extremely well - quick live data refresh rate, and decent access to codes and freeze frame information. Also using it to monitor fuel economy in real time in my own car. Great job. I wish everything worked this well for the Paypal payment.
I bought TOAD from Total Car Diagnostics so I could see if the sensors were reseting during my drive cycles. As you can probably tell I really knew nothing about my car's OBD-II system prior to this. TOAD scanner along with the included instructions taught me a lot.
ReplyDeleteThe elm327 scanner performed beautifully on my 1999 Volvo S70. This unit with the included obd2 software also has the ability to reset the Check Engine light, eliminating an expensive and needless trip to the mechanic.
ReplyDeleteNavigation GUI is super simple with included Help digital guide. TotalCarDiagnostics support has tons of code references included for help on what codes mean. Read the code, reference the error online for a description. Then also search on Internet to for how to correct the issue in your particular car. Pays for itself the first time you use it, especially if you have a smog check upcoming.
Dont' see any problem with site as far as I've been with TotalCarDiagnostics for over 3 years. There are a lot of scanners out there, Total Car Diagnostics is the best one that I have used with out going to the parts store and getting the old LCD readout style.
ReplyDeleteThis paid for it's self in the first two days. Helped me fix my 99 S10, vacuum leak, IAC valve, camshaft position sensor and a TPS. it all cost me for all the parts and didn't have to go to a mechanic.
I would without hesitation recommend this to any DIYer or if you want to know more about you vehicle. It even allowed me to show the dealer where my new Jeep was messing up (without engine light), they took it right away and were surprised on how much information there was without hooking up their thousand dollar machine.
I can't say how awesome TOAD is. Hope this helps you decide.
Darren, Perth, AU
TOAD from Total Car Diagnostics was probably the best money I've ever spent on my truck!!! Before I installed the programming in stock form my truck got 15.5 mpg and 325 miles to a tank of gas in mixed driving... Now it gets 18.5 mpg and 360-400 miles per tank of gas in mixed driving!! No BS!!! Thanks bullydog for making such a great product with great tech support to boot!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat obd2 software and fast elm327 interface. This scanner has already paid for itself many times over since I purchased it month ago. The software diagnosed the problem and I can fix all the simple issues without taking my car to the dealer. The following are some issues the scanner found that I have fixed: faulty vehicle speed sensor, faulty oxygen sensor, vehicle not ready for smog due to battery replacement (multiple cars), faulty ignition switch (indirect finding), and catalytic System below efficiency.
ReplyDeleteEveryone with a vehicle would benefit having a decent OBD2 tool in the garage, or nearby. I find total car diagnostics TOAD-Scan software and ELM327 tool, very affordable, when compared to alternative options. Just keep in mind that vehicles sold in the U.S. (which is most vehicles) older than 96' are not applicable to this kit.
ReplyDeleteBest car software out there. I use a elm327 wifi adapter for my cars. Saved me tons of money dealer wanted to charge me $275 just to diagnose the problem. I spent $37 for the adapter on totalcardiagnostics.com site, and it told me exactly what was wrong with their $97 TOAD-Scan obd 2 scanning software. Used it since my old 98 Ford. Every car I've plugged into toadscan does it's job very satisfying. I began out with the LITe version. Found that it worked so well I got the paid PRO version. These programmers are good at their expertise of cars.
ReplyDeleteToad obd software does what it should, but help manual isn't comprehensive enough. IT can do a tuning up. I had to ask support on custom PID, which they provided link. But was wondering, why not include it in help manual. Overall, good application.
ReplyDeleteI've had car problems in the past and have been burned by mechanics in the past. I decided that I'd get an OBD to diagnose any new situations that originate. So far TOAD obd2 software hasn't reported any issues. So I don't know if it's true or the scanner/software is lacking. But I know it connected and provided complete report of car health. So it does do as claimed and even better.
ReplyDeleteWhen I get a chance to use this to diagnose an issue (when car actually has a problem) I will update this review.
Honestly, when I first looked at Total Car Diagnostic's software, I thought it would be garbage. I figured I would try it since I didn't want to spend the big bucks on a big name brand scan tool and software which has lot less reviews then TOAD. I received the product and did as it said.
ReplyDeleteIt took me a while to get it to connect with my vehicle and when it eventually did, it kicked me back off. The software and ELM327 interface had power but could not access my 2000 f250 sd 7.2L.
I wasn't sure if it was the obd2 scanner or my vehicle, or because I was using wrong ver of Windows. So I contacted TotalCarDiagnostics and I became surprised to find that they were willing to go all out and help me with this problem. They even sent me a new one and a package to return the old one. I attempted to use the new one and I eventually got it to connect successfully!
And this time, I used my Windows laptop and it connects with no problem at all now. Needless to say, the TOAD customer support did a fantastic job and the product works great!
The OBD industry is now so cluttered with "Me too's!", that's it's impossible to determine who's the real deal. For proof, just Google "Obd scanner" or "car diagnostic tool" or "scan tool", etc. Or even go to Amazon.
ReplyDeleteA new "Scanner review" site is popping up every week, trying to grab the market. When in fact, it's the same old rehashed reviews.
Total car diagnostics and TOAD have silently stood against test of time of harsh criticism, negative press and disapointed customers.
Seems like TOAD is taking all the hit from previous disappointed buyers.
Yet, they're still alive, strong, support still as active as ever. Total car diagnostics truly deserves standing ovation for reliability.
IF you're here looking for "bad reviews", then rather invest time managing your emotions, then lashing out externally, due to lack of capacity to be at peace with yourself.
10/10 for Support. 8/10 for TOAD OBD Software. 10/10 for them being strong and unique in this BS over-crowded scantool marketplace, all trying to compete.
Everything I was expecting from my research on this auto company. I bought this for my Chrysler 305c. As of right now I running a 90 octane canned tune and adjusted some parameters such as; Shift points, shift firmness, throttle booster, and completely turned off the ESP. I also go back and forth between having my MDS on or off. These few changes made using included total car diagnostics Windows tuning software, the Hemi in my 305c a whole new beast.
ReplyDeleteDoes the job for the asking price of $97. You can go to a mechanic just to tell you what the "Service Engine Soon" code and expect to pay 2 times, maybe more than what total car diagnostics T.O.A.D scanner can tell you. Was considering cheaper Android Torque, but prefer bigger real estate on Windows laptop. Excellent decision.
ReplyDeletePurchased TOAD OBD at the recommendation of Amazon and I am not disappointed. My wife's car has random check lights and this allowed me to confirm they were not important and also turn them off. Comes with a dongle that plugs into your car and laptop. Support is abundant. Saved me over $430 already on taking it to mechanic.
ReplyDeleteTOAD PRO provides a good quick check, giving just the most basic codes. Very helpful to not have to go to a repair shop to get an idea why the 'Check Engine' light comes on. Does a good job of clearing the car's codes, turning off the 'Check Engine' light (until it comes back on again, if the car problem is still present). A great value, every driver should have one.
ReplyDeleteWorks on MacOS. Installed on Bootcamp using Windows 10. Delivered TOAD PRO software and cable from USA. Trusty folks. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteWaited 20 days to arrive to Sweden. Contacted support, they refunded. Got another copy of TOAD-pro. Arrived in 8 days with express mail. Comparing to android torque, toad-pro is way more sophisticated.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sending the TOAD car software. I installed it and used the software to connect and it worked. I then tested it on the TOAD software and it worked as well. I don't know what happened between the first time I used the TOAD and recently but I was not able to connect. After the new software woke up the communication network all is fine now. As I recall, there was a large update to Windows 10 around the time and it may well have been the problem in the communications settings.
ReplyDeleteTPMS Sensor IDs that were stored in the WRX ECU Or simultaneously like
ReplyDeleteATEQ VT36-0000 tpms Diagnostics Tool by ATEQ.
A new TPMS sensors installed in each wheel. It means the complete tire, wheel, and sensor.
Thank you for your time and your support. Have a great weekend.
I own a mazda 6 2008 and the keys are not working and also the nav radio console not working. The told me that i need a part that is called GS1D 675DZ-D K2224 and I found it and after that I need to reprogram the keys and the immobilizer. Do you know if I can use TOAD for this or any other program?
ReplyDeleteGood basic obd2 reader to use to pull codes, reading bluetooth on win 10 works very well, I was able to walk about 20ft from car into the garage to read the program on my phone. I purchased the Torque Pro program on my phone for $5 to read the issues and works great, after you get the codes you can click them and go online to see a more detailed description of the issue, you can also send a copy of the codes to email or text. I did purchase an 1ft extension cable to connect it to since my OBD connection is a little awkward to get too. Just a couple notes after you read the issues do not clear the codes until you fix the problem, or think you have, also in no way is this like a professional mechanic code reader, they can look into things and levels this can't, but this is a good basic reader to give you a heads up on whats going on, no surprises from the mechanic. Glad found this site which lead me to seeing if total car diagnostics is legit/authentic.
ReplyDeleteI've tried several car solutions, however still prefer ordinary handheld devices like foxtell.
ReplyDeleteIt's let's you perform a complete diagnosis of your car anytime, anywhere with Foxwell NT301 check engine light diagnostic tool.
It is made for fast use so you can get the results you want in the shortest time with hot keys for reading/clearing DTCs. It enables you fix the issue yourself, or let you know exactly what needs replacement in case you need to take your car to a workshop repair shop.
This helps you avoid blind maintenance and repair costs that could amount to hundreds or thousands of dollars. You also avoid being pushed to buy parts that you do not need because you know exactly what is wrong with your vehicle.
I have read the page about TOAD and I need to know if it's also able to read and clear temp and permanent stored errors codes for ABS, SRS, traction control... USA.
ReplyDeleteAlready tried several obd software and carefully read their reviews. However most scantools, lack bidirectional. And those obd2 readers that do, basically lack major car support. The reviews mainly come from those whose car is compatible. But what if the engine type of vehicle is not supported?
Then obd2 diagnostic tool with bi-directional support becomes mere generic obd reader.
Regarding the tuning part of total car diagnostics software (not diagnostics), will I be able to save the settings from the 2012 Camaro ECU and then edit the 2010 ECU to match for tuning the engine? From my understanding the engine blocks are the same but they have different heads with the banks on the opposite sides.
ReplyDeleteAre there any limitations with my car?
ReplyDeleteI saw some stuff in the knowledge base talking about BMW's, will I have a lot of INPA patches etc?
I want to do a deeper diagnostic and reflash and prob a tune.
Please save me the trouble and let me know how much work and time it could take for me to get going.
Ive developed software and built networks for 25 years. Also restored 17 pre 1979 cars. Owned and worked on this car, AMG etc...
I have a valid and current ELM327 Bluetooth
After completing some work on the head, the cars starts and runs perfectly, but begins to hunt rpm and if shut off will crank but not start again. I am seeing throttle body codes P0120 and p0122. Research suggests that I must take the car out of "limp mode" by resetting the ECU. Which software, and what procedure, should I use to do this? (This is the reason I bought Toad; I finally received my OBD2 adapter today and successfully connected, but cannot see the option in Toad pro obdii software to reset any adaptions).
ReplyDeleteI am interested in buying TOAD-Pro Scan software for my 2010 Mitsubishi Challenger 2.5 TD and 2012 Mitsubishi Triton 2.5 TD.
ReplyDeleteQuestions:
1. Will TOAD pro be compatible with these vehicles.
2. Does TOAD pro offer Small Quantity Learning or Injector Pilot Learning?
I've been going through your site and am quite interested in Toad obd software scanner.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I'm looking for one of the Tuners you have listed, that could work with a 2.5L 2008 VW Rabbit engine. These don't appear to be on any of the lists (I even checked for 2.5L Golf just in case it's a name change.)
Did I miss one? Is there any chance you might know of a tuner kit I could use? I am currently following advice off your "Can TOAD software Tune/Reprogram/Remap/Flash My Car's ECU Chip?" webpage.
Any information could be helpful.
My end goal (now) is to install an electric turbo (TorqAmp) on my Rabbit. However, I have been told an ECU tune would be necessary for any good gains.
I have an old Ford vehicle that was throwing a code. Got this scanner (TOAD-Pro) and instantly found the code.
ReplyDeleteWas able to look it up and found that there is an evap, fuel code that requires a new part.
Looked it up and the part is an easy fix, will order the replacement from eBay actually as they have the best price.
If you need an engine code scanner, this will work, can erase codes too if you need to diagnosis situations. The error code will still show up on the TOAD scanner, so it can't be used to sell a car by hiding a code, that's just wrong. Overall the package (including Bluetooth ELM device) works and was a decent price to much higher cost alternatives.
Amongst other reviews, so far I have used toad car diagnostics about 7 times which has helped clear many codes and see what has been wrong with my companies fleet. Initially caught it for my parents BMW as I took the seat off giving an ABS error but have since used it on Chevy, Ford, Audi and Toyota.
ReplyDeleteDidn't work on Chevy. My mistake as description even stated to NOT BUY if own Chevy, until first test it's working with ordinary cheap ELM327 scanner and free obd software.
ReplyDeleteHowever they refunded, even though my negligence was at fault.
Experiences like this SHOULD be mentioned, as usually customers hardly report the good stuff company show. So easy to j#$k off one's bad experiences.
