TOAD (Total OBD & ECU Auto Diagnostics) software lets you tap into the brains of your car --

We all, well at least, everyone who drives, have felt that second of irrational panic when the “engine fault” light on the dashboard suddenly lights up.

It is, of course, recommended that you drop your car off at a service station as soon as possible, as in most cases you have no way to know where exactly the fault lies. Until now...

With Total OBD & ECU Auto Diagnostics (TOAD for short) software — checking fault codes is just one of the MANY things you can do.

How it works?

Apart from the application, you will need an OBD2 Bluetooth adapter which plugs into your car’s diagnostics socket.

The OBD2 standard (On-Board Diagnostics) is found in most cars manufactured after 2000, but you should definitely check your vehicle information first.

You can check here if your car is OBD2.

The Bluetooth adapter, once plugged into the socket connected to the ECU (Engine Control Unit), will then pair with your Windows laptop, allowing you to access the many features provided by the TOAD software by Total Car Diagnostics.

Features

While I love driving, I won’t even pretend to understand half of the extensive features this auto tuning application provides. That being said, here are a list of some that would be useful for everyone.
  • Dynamometer, horsepower, and torque gauges
  • 0-60mph (0-100 kmph) speed timings
  • CO2 emission readouts
  • Extensive fault code database of various manufacturers
  • Alarms and warnings
  • Mileage (miles per gallon) information
Again, this is just a very short list of the multitude of features of Total OBD & ECU Auto Diagnostics software.

Usage/Limitations

  • Some features are limited to particular vehicle types. For example, a Turbo Boost feature is supported by cars that have MAP and MAF sensors such some VW and Audi cars.
  • Should be compatible with an extensive manufacturer list — but feature availability may vary depending on your particular vehicle’s ECU.
  • A genuine (non clone) high-quality Bluetooth adapter can be found here. There is a $12 Chinese adapter found on Ebay/Amazon — which will also work 100% fine with Total OBD & ECU Auto Diagnostics software.

Conclusion

TOAD looks to be very useful for a lot of people who are into cars. It does require some investment on your part, so I would recommend being absolutely sure that your car is compatible with the adapter and app before taking the steps mentioned above.

What are your thoughts? Is this software what you’ve been looking for? Will you be downloading Total OBD & ECU Auto Diagnostics?

  2. First off I have to give a huge thanks to the sellers of this item. My local post office said the package had been delivered to my address but it had not. I was so disappointed because I had been really looking forward to receiving this. I contacted the seller and explained the situation to them. No lie, days later a package was on my porch with this very item in it!!! I WAS EXSTATIC!!!

Total Car Diagnostics is a provider of top quality car diagnostics tools that you can trust. The very day I got Total OBD & ECU Auto Diagnostics, my 17 year olds dodge truck started doing something it shouldn't have. I'm not sure what it was but he made it home so it was still drivable. When he walked in the house and I handed him the TOAD Can OBD Scanner Tool the look on his face was worth any heartache I have felt as a mom.

He tore the package open and out the door he went. This Scanner Tool comes with a list of codes and their definitions and also has an easy to understand instruction guide. Using this tool, my son was able to figure out what was wrong with his truck and then fix it on his own. It was a great boost to his self esteem and he loves the fact that he can also use the scanner to help out his friends if they have problems with a vehicle this will work on.

From testing several products by Total Car Diagnostics company, I can honestly say that TOAD is a name you can trust we you purchase a product from them. I do not know them personally but have been lucky enough to review their items ! I would very much like to thank Total Car Diagnostics for allowing me to review their products ! I hope I have answered any questions you may have had about this Check Engine Light Scanner from Total Car Diagnostics.

  3. Very handy tool. After finishing needed repairs and to turn off the MIL 'Service Engine Soon' light which kept me from passing emissions, I used Total OBD & ECU Auto Diagnostics scanner to check if I successfully completed a full drive cycle before retesting. Took the guess work out of it, and definitely saved me trip!
